For the Moomba parade on the Labour Day holiday in March 1974, the Ukrainian community entered a float - a painted Easter Egg (pysanka). The construction was done mainly by my brother-in-law in his garage.
The photos were taken in the staging area in Swanston St, just past Victoria St.
Sir Robert Helpman was the Moomba Monarch but I could not find the name of the Festival Queen.
The main float appears to have had a theme of "a la South American Indian".
What I do know is that we are all 38 years older.
